Restrictions
Restricted items include: Household Hazardous Waste (HHW), such as oil-based paint, motor oil, fuel, gardening chemicals, pesticides, Mercury, Freon, car batteries, etc.
Contractors are not permitted to rent or use the City-owned containers. This program was designed to assist residents with their disposal needs, not contractors, who should already have a means of disposing of leftover materials. Therefore, containers will only be rented out to and may only be loaded by Pepper Pike residents. Containers that are rented for construction debris will be cross-referrenced with the Building Department records to confirm that the proper permits have been obtained.
Do not mix different types of loads together. All loads are taken to different disposal facilities, therefore may not be placed in the same container. All containers will be inspected upon pickup, and those that are found to be in violation of this requirement must be reloaded by the resident before collection may occur.
Do not overload the container. Items should not pass the red arrows or top edge of the container. Overloaded containers are unsafe to transport to the landfill, therefore, the resident will be instructed to remove the items that are protruding over the edge of the container.
Types of Loads
- Household Items – furniture, clothing, toys, cooking utensils, rags, etc. Ideal for large home clean-outs or move-outs. Household items may also be collected with a Friday Special Pick-Up; however, it may take the Service Department more than one Friday to collect everything.
- Construction Debris – drywall, tiles, linoleum, insulation, aluminum siding, paneling, windows, doors, roofing materials, etc. Construction debris from do-it-yourself projects only.
- Yard Waste – grass clippings, leaves, weeds, hedge trimmings, plants, mulch, straw, earth, sticks, twigs, and tree branches 9” and under diameter.
- Small Trees – branches, trunks and stumps 10” – 12” diameter.

Note: Residents are permitted to mix yard waste with small and large trees; however, the cost of the container will be based on the largest diameter items, even if they are not the majority of the load. - Railroad Ties
