Professional Background

Anthony M Gentile, Jr. is the former Deputy Finance Director of the Village of Hunting Valley. Reporting to the Elected Finance Director, he was responsible for accounting, finance and human resources for the village. In an unofficial role assisting the Mayor, he has overseen the development of new and replacement water mains in the village, prepared a booklet detailing all the conserved properties in the village and numerous other special projects. 

Diocese of Cleveland Foundation

Prior to joining the Village of Hunting Valley, Mr. Gentile served briefly at the Diocese of Cleveland Foundation as a consultant and as an Executive Vice President. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Finance and Enterprise for the Cleveland Museum of Art, a position he held for over eight years. He was responsible for accounting, finance, human resources, information services, purchasing, the museum stores, product development, parking and the café during his tenure with the museum.

Regional Income Tax Agency

Mr. Gentile served as the Executive Director of the Regional Income Tax Agency from 1988 through 1991. He began an expansion of the Agency which now collects income taxes for over 200 municipalities throughout the state of Ohio. His experience prior to that was in private business organizations, both privately held and publicly traded. He was the Cleveland Regional Vice President of the Ivy Medical Group, and urgent care center operator. In the Cleveland Region, he ultimately operated six urgent care centers, and during his tenure, he doubled the size of the region.

APCOA, Inc.

For ten years, Mr. Gentile held a number of positions with APCOA, Inc., a parking company located in Cleveland Ohio. He began his career there in 1976 as a Senior Financial Analyst and rose to the position of Vice President and chief financial officer in 1982.

Before joining APCOA, Mr. Gentile held positions with Tremco, Inc, a manufacturer and installer of industrial sealants and roofing materials and with a publicly held conglomerate then known as A-T-O.

Education

Mr. Gentile earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with honors at Denison University located in Granville Ohio in 1968. He went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Economics at Duke University where he attended on a fellowship. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration at Case Western Reserve University and a Juris Doctorate at Cleveland Marshall School of Law. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1988.

Boards & Councils

He has served on a number of non-profit boards and is currently the treasurer of Hope Lodge, a unit of the American Cancer Society. He has two grown sons in the Cleveland area and has lived in Pepper Pike with his wife Maggie since 2002. He was elected to Pepper Pike City Council in November of 2011.
